 1. The Surrey Hotel***

Elegant room decor, Daniel Boulud room service, a mini-bar that Don Draper would approve of and it's just steps away from Central Park.
Room Rates: $400 a night


Lovely from head to toe, a civilized respite in Soho and with a screening room on-site too. Now if only you could get a room.
Room Rates: $500 a night


Undeniably Trump but the spacious rooms, Fendi furniture, Hudson River views and giant soaking tubs have won us over.
Room Rates: $499 a night



Carefully considered design, amenities and art have delighted recent guests, despite not being totally finished (the restaurant is still to come.)
Room Rates: $480 a night


Do it for free perks like WiFi, minibar snacks and even departure amenities. The generous rooms and the Fifth Ave location don't hurt either.

A tri-level playground on the roof that includes pools and bars. Need we say more?

Brings Art Deco glamour and seduction back to Midtown...at Uptown prices.

With a Michelin-starred restaurant, a coffee shop, sub shop, retail store and hot lobby scene, it's "ace" for deep-pocketed hipsters with ADD.
Room Rates: $500 a night


Futuristic design and innovative lighting schemes make it very un-W but Bliss toiletries and Whatever/Whenever service remains.
Room Rates: $480 a night


Simple rooms in midtown with luxurious touches like Frette linens, Dean & DeLuca amenities and 42-inch flatscreen TVs at a reasonable rate.
Room Rates: $299 a night

 11. The Standard Hotel***

Yes, it's overpriced dorm room chic but the scene has proved irresistible to the fashion crowds and celebrities.
Room Rates: $500 a night


A new bar, a "Top Chef" in the restaurant and the Kardashians have finally made this Thompson Hotel hot since opening nearly two years ago.
Room Rates: $485 a night
