Mariah Carey- Plaza Employee??

Wow- this is just amazing. We were "Googling" Top Hat and came across these images of Mariah Carey dressed as a man from her "Obsessed" music video. Not just any man, a Plaza Hotel Doorman, made by yours truly. How often can you say Mariah Carey wore your clothing? We are floored.

Tribeca Film Festival 2011

Looking for places to say during the upcoming Tribeca Film Festival??? Book your rooms quick before they sell out! Here are Top Hat's Top Picks for where to stay closest to the festival:

  1. The Greenwich Hotel- owned by actor and film festival co-founder Robert Deniro, the Greenwich Hotel is a hotspot for celebrity sightings year round. During the festival, it's almost a no brainer that if you're lucky enough to get a room, this is our #1 pick where to stay. This place is cozy and eclectic, with a real boutique hotel feel. Rooms during the festival start at $495, but I had tea next to Sean Penn in the lobby, and that most certainly made it worth it.

2. The Tribeca Grand Hotel-  spotted! Nate Archibald (a.k.a. Chace Crawford) checking into the Tribeca Grand.... 2 weeks ago. True story. This hotel still has it in with the young "it crowd," and the hotel's massive lobby bar is a cool scene on weeknights in NYC.  This place is super close to the film festival, and will sure to be a great place for celeb sightings that week. The hotel even has their own screening room where they host their own premieres. Rates for the film festival start at $329 a night.

3. The Duane Street Hotel-  this hotel has a great Asian/Urban theme to it, nestled in the heart of Tribeca. If you like clean lines and great work space, this is the hotel for you. With your stay you get 24 hour personal concierge services, and handmade marshmallows with your turn down service. The hotel is smack in the middle of Tribeca's best shopping and dining areas, and you are sure to enjoy your stay here during the festival starting at around $239 a night.

4. The Smyth Tribeca- the Symth Tribeca is sure to be the best of "cheap" hotels. It recently just got a major boost of publicity by playing host to the Kardashian sisters during their stay in NYC while opening their new Dash boutique in Soho. It's currently a hotspot, so if you're lucky enough to score a room during the festival, their will most likely be some great celeb sightings. Rooms for the festival start at $299 a night, but rumor has it if you book online and use the film festival promo code "TFFF," you wil score a discount.

Fashion Emergency 911???

The Elysian Chicago to the rescue...

(image via glam.com)

(image via nbcchicago.com)

The Elysian Hotel Chicago- one of our glamorous Top Hat clients, is the first of it's kind to introduce a Style Program offering private consultations and VIP access to Designer labels.

A-list stylist Eric Himel teamed up with the hotel to offer his services to guests before and during their stay at the hotel. To be eligible for the program you must book a suite at an executive level or higher, and with your stay each guest will recieve a private lesson with Himel, and access to his Shopping Hot List network. For $150/hour, guests can book private styling sessions with Himel, who works with clients including celebrities, socialites and business executives.

In addition to the Elysian Style Program, the hotel is offering Style Kits designed by Himel for all your fashion emergencies. The Women's kit includes an amazing LBD by Donna Karen (the Infiniti convertible jersey dress), a pair of Jimmy Choo "Gilbert Kid" pumps, MAC Viva Glam Lipstick, Wolford Power shape tights, and a Lanvin Ouloulette clutch. The Men's kit includes a Zegna white french cuff dress shirt, an Hermés silk tie, David Yurman Armory cuff links, a pair of Gucci moccasins, and lastly, Byredo Men's cologne.

Of course, these fabulous kits don't come without a hefty price tag, as the Women's kits range from $15- $1000, and the Men's from $170- $595. There is also a Marc Jacobs store inside the hotel, should you crave a little shopping without straying too far.

Carefully considered design, amenities and art have delighted recent guests, despite not being totally finished (the restaurant is still to come.)
Room Rates: $480 a night

Do it for free perks like WiFi, minibar snacks and even departure amenities. The generous rooms and the Fifth Ave location don't hurt either.
